We know that many members had a great time in Madeira and good numbers came back with medals, well done. I haven’t had time to look through the results but any write up for the website is welcome.
Several EMAC members travelled to Leeds for the Masters Home countries XC international. The England teams all did well and won all three overall trophies – Men, Women and Overall. The next international will be hosted by Ireland in 2026.
I have been busy with BMAF stuff. I supported the XC at Leeds as BMAF did not have a cross country secretary. At the same time I was organising the BMAF AGM. Unfortunately, the outcome of the BMAF was bleak. I had already announced I was retiring for health reasons. At the meeting the proposal to wind up BMAF as a federation and incorporate was not voted on due to a technicality. The company BMAF Services Ltd was at issue. This company has yet to change its Articles to allow it to become a subsidiary of the proposed BMAF company. It was thought by the AGM as a whole that this was required before the Federation was wound up. Unfortunately, the two committee members responsible for most of the work in this area decided that they could not stand for reelection after this decision. This means that only two of many BMAF officer posts are now filled. As there are now only three voting members remaining on the Executive it cannot now have a quorum for a meeting.
The EMAC committee have discussed this and are trying to arrange a meeting with other Masters clubs to see if a way forward can be agreed.
