Road Running
For members keen to compete in road running, EMAC offers a Road Running League which runs each year.
The Road Running League and Championships of recent years haven’t enticed many people to take part, so for 2025 we are going to be trialling a brand-new format. The main changes are listed below:
Old format |
New format |
League races were chosen by EMAC at the start of the year. | You choose which races you do and then submit your time to us if you want it included. |
Needed to run three races to be included in the league | You only need to run one race across the whole year to be included. |
Only one overall winner at the end of the year. | Medals will be awarded to the top three in each age category. |
Medals awarded at selected Championship races throughout the year. |
Replaced by the introduction of age category medals in the League. |
Road Running League (2025)
- Eligible Distances: You can submit results from road races run over the following standard distances: 5K, 5 Mile, 10K, 10 Mile, Half Marathon, and Marathon. You can submit as many results as you like, including multiple results for the same distance.
- Officially Measured Courses: Races must be run on officially measured courses. Any race later marked as a short course will not be included.
- Race Eligibility: Only races run since the end of the last league (October 27, 2024) can be submitted. You can submit results retrospectively up until one week before the EMAC Cross Country Championships (date TBC).
- Membership Requirement: You must be a paid-up member of EMAC at the time of competing for your race performance to be included in the league.
- WAVA Scoring: For each race you submit, we will calculate your WAVA score using the 2015 Age-grading factors available here.
- League Format: The highest WAVA score of any result you submit will determine your placing in the league.
- Change of Age Category: If you move to a new age category during the league year, you will be included in both categories. WAVA scores will be assigned to the category you were in on the day you ran the race.
